Trends in design. Avoid them? Follow them? Comment them? Create them?
It depends on from which angle of design we look at the trends. Design have many forms. In industrial design and in design, which main goal is to make the biggest profit , trends are the actual theme. Trend can be made on purpose and then it is a question, if is it really a trend. Trend is a relative term, trend for one doesn’t have to be trend for the others. Today some inspiration come from primitive cultures. By transferring them into local surroundings they become trends, even though in their original environment they are not trends. For example earrings in nose. Trend in our society, but deep symbolism in some old culture. I would rather not follow the trend, designer has his own style and that is way the products are interesting and unique. It is very easy to go under trends in global word, but when it happens, it is not good for the local identity and global diversity.

Colors are the dictate for fashion, does anything like this exist in product design?
I think the product design dictate these days are digital technologies and new materials. For the final presentation products don’t have to be in the final form and the process itself is very often presented too.

What do you think about the project REDESIGN?
REDESIGN or RE DESIGN?

You present your project Recycling Lab at the festival designSUPERMARKET these days, can you say a bit about it?
Recyclation here is not meant in the primary level as a secondary processing of some material, but in the way of reviewing menaings, motives and contexts and the project has both practical and theoretical part. I have two collections, in the first one I work with porcelain plastics form Czechoslovakia, the second one connects products with architectural motiv. You can find out more via the projects webpages and till Sunday also at the festival designSUPERMARKET.
